At the age of 14, Bella Weems asked her parents if they would buy her a car when she turned 16. After declining that they would purchase her a car, they told her to start saving. She started babysitting, but after a few months she had only accumulated $350. She became upset that she was going no where and wouldn't have the money to buy her car when she turned 16. After hearing her daughter say this, Bella's mother told her that she should start a business. Bella thought her mother was joking, but after she realized that her mother was serious she began researching. She found the idea of selling lockets and jewelry and with her $350 matched by her parents, she started her business.
